Tobacco Free Collaborative of San Jose

Volunteer to make a positive change in the Latino community!

This spring Breathe California is partnering with SJSU’s C.H.E., and other community organizations to reduce exposure to second-hand smoke in the Latino community. Help us develop and implement new policies to protect Latinos from second-hand smoke at popular community locations and festivals. Join us by volunteering to help us make a positive change in the Latino community. For more information, contact Michelle Linares at

The Tobacco-Free Collaborative is a citywide effort designed to get the community involved in reducing tobacco use. We want to know how we can work with you to make San Jose a tobacco-free community where all residents can live healthy lives free from tobacco addiction.

We need to stop tobacco addiction in its tracks and reduce the impact of tobacco use on our community by:

  • Protecting young people from the predatory tactics of the tobacco industry.
  • Educating people about the dangers of tobacco use and secondhand smoke.
  • Helping young people avoid peer pressures to use tobacco.
  • Reaching out to those who use tobacco and helping them quit.
  • Avoiding secondhand smoke and protecting our families from secondhand smoke exposure.
  • Creating tobacco-free zones in our community.
